Pickup prep
How to Prepare Your Couch for Removal
A room-by-room pickup checklist covering personal items, access routes, apartments, and final request details.
Start with the things inside the couch
Before moving anything, check the gaps between cushions, underneath the couch, and inside storage compartments. Remove remotes, chargers, keys, documents, toys, and anything else that belongs to you. Open a sleeper or storage section only if you can do so safely and know how it works. Do not leave personal items inside because you assume they will be found during pickup.
Make a clear route through the home
Think about the path from the couch to the exit. Move small obstacles such as loose rugs, baskets, toys, and cords out of that path. Keep doors easy to access. If there is a tight corner, narrow opening, staircase, or elevator, mention it in the request. Measuring an opening can help explain a concern, but do not force a heavy couch through a space or dismantle furniture without understanding how it fits together.
Choose the real pickup location
The flow offers curbside, inside-home, and garage options. Choose the location where the couch will actually be at the confirmed pickup time. You do not have to drag an indoor couch outside to complete the form. If you decide to change its location later, make sure that change is communicated before the pickup is finalized. A clear location description is especially helpful when more than one entrance serves the property.
For apartments and shared buildings
Check the building’s rules for moving furniture through common areas. Find out whether an elevator reservation, loading area, or specific access time needs arranging. Include the unit number, floor, and relevant instructions in your notes. Avoid blocking hallways, fire exits, sidewalks, or shared parking spaces. A preferred time in the request does not replace any reservation your building requires.
For reclining couches and sectionals
Identify which parts disconnect and where any power cords are located. Keep loose components together and mention powered or reclining sections in your notes. Do not cut wiring or force a connector apart. If the couch needs to stay assembled until the pickup, leave it that way and describe any access concern. The most helpful preparation is accurate information and a clear path.
Furniture and access charges
Reclining furniture adds $35 per couch, and a sofa bed adds $35 per couch. Both apply if both are selected. A standalone recliner can be entered as one seat with Reclining turned on. Stairs add $25 per pickup, and a carry farther than 120 feet adds $25 per pickup. First apply the $119 minimum to the seats and chaise subtotal, then add these handling charges. The review and saved request show your selections and final total.
The final check before requesting pickup
Review every couch’s seat count and chaise size, then check your address and contact number. Add gate or access instructions in the notes field rather than a public post. Choose a preferred date and arrival window, understanding that the pickup request still needs confirmation. No payment is collected during this request flow. Until arrangements are confirmed, keep your furniture secure and avoid scheduling other tasks on the assumption that pickup is guaranteed.
