How to Count Sectional Seats and Choose a Chaise

A practical guide to counting couch seats, recognizing a chaise, and keeping multiple couches separate.

Look at seating positions

A sectional can be harder to count than a standard sofa because the cushions and modules do not always match the places people sit. Start by looking at the full piece in its normal arrangement. Count the intended seating positions across the couch. A single bench cushion may cover more than one seat, while a corner piece may have an unusual shape. If the layout is ambiguous, explain it in your pickup notes instead of trying to hide the uncertainty.

A chaise is a seat with an extended leg area

The long lounge portion attached to a sofa is the chaise. Include its seating position in your total number of seats, then select a chaise size. The size choice adds a separate amount: $40 small, $60 regular, or $80 large. An ordinary seat on a couch does not need a chaise selection just because someone can stretch out across it. Likewise, do not assume a separate ottoman is a chaise attached to the couch.

Choose the size honestly

Use the small, regular, or large choice that best describes the extension. This site does not publish exact inch-based boundaries for those sizes, so do not treat any guessed measurement as a firm threshold. When you are unsure, measure the extension and add those dimensions to your notes so the selection can be clarified before pickup. The purpose is a useful description of the furniture, not a guessing contest.

One couch can have several connected sections

If modules join into one couch, configure that couch together using the one-to-eight seat choices. You do not need to count every detachable module as a separate couch simply because it comes apart. A separate sofa across the room is different: add another couch and give it its own count. This keeps the pricing and review screen understandable.

Examples you can compare

A couch with three seating positions, one of which is a small chaise, is three seats plus the small chaise charge: $190. A five-seat sectional with a regular chaise is $310. A separate two-seat couch would add $100 to that request. The $119 minimum applies to the complete pickup, so it is not charged again for the additional two-seat couch.

Furniture and access charges

Reclining furniture adds $35 per couch, and a sofa bed adds $35 per couch. Both apply if both are selected. A standalone recliner can be entered as one seat with Reclining turned on. Stairs add $25 per pickup, and a carry farther than 120 feet adds $25 per pickup. First apply the $119 minimum to the seats and chaise subtotal, then add these handling charges. The review and saved request show your selections and final total.

Make unusual layouts clear

If your couch has more than eight seats, more than one chaise, or a configuration the selectors cannot accurately represent, describe the full layout before final confirmation. Do not silently choose a smaller number just to finish the form. Use the pickup notes to mention reclining sections, storage compartments, or a route that might require separating the modules. Keep the furniture in a safe position while the pickup details are being confirmed.
