Curbside or Inside Pickup: Which Should You Choose?

Compare curbside, garage, and indoor couch pickup and learn what to include in your request.

Choose based on where the couch is

The location selector describes the pickup, not a challenge to move the furniture yourself. If your couch is in the living room, choose inside-home pickup. If it is already in the garage, choose garage. Use curbside when the furniture can be safely and appropriately ready outside for the confirmed pickup. An accurate selection is more valuable than choosing the option that sounds easiest.

When curbside can be straightforward

A couch already positioned in an accessible outdoor location may be simple to identify, but the exact spot still matters. Explain whether it is near a driveway, an entrance, or another landmark on your property. Check any property or community rules before leaving furniture outside. Keep sidewalks, entrances, and shared areas unobstructed. Do not place it early just because you have submitted an unconfirmed request.

When inside-home pickup is the better description

An indoor couch may need to pass a hallway, doorway, or stair landing. Include those details and identify the floor and room. Clear small obstacles from the route and remove belongings from the couch. You should not need to attempt a difficult move simply to make the location selector say curbside. If you are unsure whether a couch can pass through an opening, put that concern in the notes.

Garage pickup still needs access notes

A garage can contain storage, vehicles, and other items around the couch. Make the piece easy to identify and explain how the garage will be accessed. Note any steps between the garage and the approach. Keep the couch separate from furniture that is staying, and do not assume an open garage or shared driveway provides permission to enter without confirmed arrangements.

How location relates to the displayed price

This version of the calculator uses seats and chaise sizes. Seats are $50 each, with chaise additions of $40, $60, or $80 and a $119 minimum for the complete pickup. Curbside pickup saves $20 once per pickup; inside and garage pickup use standard pricing, but the access step has Stairs (+$25) and Over 120 feet (+$25) options. Each selected access charge applies once per pickup, after the base minimum. Access details still belong in the request so unusual circumstances can be discussed before confirmation. Select the access options that apply and describe any unusual route in the notes.

Furniture and access charges

Reclining furniture adds $35 per couch, and a sofa bed adds $35 per couch. Both apply if both are selected. A standalone recliner can be entered as one seat with Reclining turned on. Stairs add $25 per pickup, and a carry farther than 120 feet adds $25 per pickup. First apply the $119 minimum to the seats and chaise subtotal, then add these handling charges. The review and saved request show your selections and final total.

Make the request easy to understand

Review the address, location, preferred date, and window together. If the couch is being moved to the garage later, explain when that will happen. If a building restricts loading times, include the restriction. The final button saves your pickup request; it does not automatically confirm the appointment or arrange access. Wait for confirmation before relying on the pickup for a move-out deadline or furniture delivery.
