The Medium is a short, English language opera with words and music by Gian Carlo Menotti. This interpretation of The Medium is set in Toronto during the spiritualist intrigue of the early twentieth century. Monopolizing on the popularity of séances amongst affluent socialites of that time, the titular character, Madame Flora, manipulates grieving parents by convincing them she can contact their “little dead” from beyond the grave—at a hefty price.
